Overview

SPII is a non-repayable grant for developing innovative products or processes, covering the phase from end of research to pre-production prototype. The Product Process Development scheme gives small and micro firms (turnover under R13 million, under 50 staff) up to R2 million at 50-85 percent of qualifying costs depending on black ownership; the Matching scheme gives any enterprise up to R5 million at 50-75 percent. Development and intellectual property must stay in South Africa.
