Rebate/Incentive

Section 12H Learnership Tax Allowance

South African Revenue Service (Government Agency)

Section 12H Learnership Tax Allowance is a rebate/incentive from South African Revenue Service for businesses at any stage across South Africa. Applications close on 31 March 2027.

Overview

If your business employs learners on a registered learnership through your SETA, you can deduct extra amounts from taxable income each year and again on completion - it is a tax saving, not a cash grant, so you need to be profitable and tax-registered to benefit. No separate application: register the learnership agreement with your SETA and claim the allowance in your annual income tax return (ITR14). The incentive currently applies to agreements signed before 1 April 2027.
