If your payroll is over R500,000 a year you are already paying the 1 percent skills levy via SARS - submitting a WSP and ATR on your SETA online portal by 30 April each year gets 20 percent of it paid back to you, and also makes you eligible for larger SETA discretionary grants. Register a Skills Development Facilitator (can be an owner or employee) on your SETA portal and submit annually; missing the deadline forfeits that year.

Full Description

Employers who pay the 1 percent Skills Development Levy (payroll above R500,000 per year) can claim 20 percent of their levy back each year as a mandatory grant by submitting a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) to their SETA by 30 April. Unclaimed amounts roll into the SETA discretionary grant pool.
