Services SETA Discretionary Grant

The Services SETA funds employers and training providers to run learnerships, apprenticeships, skills programmes, recognition of prior learning and adult education for the services sector. Funding is per learner at SETA policy rates, not a lump-sum business grant. Applications open in annual windows via the Services SETA DG portal - the 2026/27 window closed on 29 May 2026, so watch for the next annual call (enquiries: dgenquiries@serviceseta.org.za).

AgriSETA Discretionary Grant

AgriSETA pays agricultural employers, accredited training providers and rural structures to run training: learnerships, skills programmes, bursaries, internships, graduate placements and artisan development. Funding is per learner at fixed published rates (for example about R19,292 per employed learner and R23,108 plus a R9,624 stipend per unemployed learner on learnerships) - not a lump-sum business grant, and individuals are not funded directly. Applications open in an annual window, 1 August to 15 September, via the AgriSETA online system.

The National Development Agency funds registered non-profit civil society organisations - NGOs, CBOs and co-operatives doing community development work on poverty eradication. NAC Annual Project Funding

The National Arts Council funds arts projects by individual practitioners and registered arts organisations in craft, dance, literature, music, theatre, visual arts and multidisciplinary work, up to R350,000 per project. Applications go through the NAC online portal (nac.praxisgms.co.za) in announced annual calls - the 2026-2027 call closed on 13 March 2026 with outcomes announced 29 May 2026, so watch nac.org.za for the next call.

Green Tourism Incentive Programme (GTIP)

The Green Tourism Incentive Programme, run by the IDC for the Department of Tourism, helps small and micro tourism businesses go green: it pays the full cost of a resource-efficiency audit, then funds 50 to 90 percent of approved retrofits (solar, water efficiency, energy saving) on a sliding scale, capped at R1 million. Applications go to the IDC (gtipapplications@idc.co.za) in fixed window periods - the window is currently closed, so watch the IDC page for the next opening.

NFVF Production and Development Funding

Grants for developing and producing South African films, documentaries, animation and TV or web content, with published maximums of R200,000 for development (R100,000 for documentaries and shorts) and up to R1.2 million for feature film production. Funding runs in fixed application cycles through the online Praxis portal, not year-round - the current Production and Development window is open 8 June to 6 July 2026 (17h00). You need SARS tax compliance and a B-BBEE certificate; first-time filmmakers are explicitly welcome, and each applicant may submit at most two projects per cycle.

NAC Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP)

PESP is government stimulus funding routed through the National Arts Council for arts and culture projects that create jobs. The latest round (PESP 7, for 2026-2027) funded three tiers - up to R300,000 for smaller projects, R500,000 for medium projects creating 40+ jobs, and R800,000 for major projects creating 70+ jobs. PESP 7 applications closed on 29 May 2026 with outcomes due 14 August 2026; the programme has run annually, so watch nac.org.za for a possible PESP 8 call.
